OLAC Best Practice for source consulted
Prerecording
Prerecording
Always record the source of information for supplied titles or titles transcribed from a source outside the manifestation being described. For manifestations that ordinarily do not carry identifying information, do not use square brackets for supplied information, including titles.
LC/PCC practice:
LC/PCC Core. Record the source consulted element as a value of Manifestation: appellation of manifestation (i.e. a title proper) and/or as an IRI. Transcribe or record data found in the source consulted as appropriate to the needs of the specific metadata work.
LC/PCC Core when relating one agent to another.
