Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option by using an access point established in the LC/NACO Authority file. If no authorized form has been established in the LC/NACO Authority file, apply the option by (1) establishing a value of Work: access point for work as the authorized form in the LC/NACO Name Authority file, and/or (2) Recording a value of Work: access point for work on a bibliographic record.

Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option.

Base access points for work

Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option. For partial compilations of single forms by one agent or partial compilations of multiple forms by one agent published after 1500, use the title of manifestation as Work: title of work.

LC/PCC practice: For manuscripts, apply the option. If the manuscript has a title for the work that is different from the title of the physical manifestation or the work has a creator, separate authorized access points are needed. If the manuscript does not have an identifiable title, create an access point based on the Manifestation: access point for manifestation.

LC/PCC practice: For manuscripts, when the authorized access point for manifestation is the same as the authorized access point for work, establish a separate metadata description for the authorized access point for work only if it is necessary to catalog the resource in hand. (For example, when illuminations from a physical manuscript are published separately, the authorized access point for the work they illuminate is generally not needed.)

LC/PCC practice: For manuscripts, when constructing an authorized access point for extracts of the work, only use Selections in Work: authorized access point for work when the preferred title of work and the name of the physical manuscript are the same.

Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option if there is no title of work established.

Format of base access ponts for work

Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option.

Condition Option

LC/PCC practice: Do not apply the option.

Condition Option

Condition Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option.

Condition Option

LC/PCC practice: Do not apply the option. Record a value that reflects the punctuation used in the resource. Optionally, record a variant access point that applies the option.
