Determine if a title is distinctive or generic according to the instructions at Manifestation: title proper. Titles proper including music information.
Apply the option if the title is distinctive. Also apply the option to record music information as Manifestation: other title information.
Do not apply the option if the title is generic, or in case of doubt; instead record the music information as part of a Manifestation: title proper.

If a number is integral to a distinctive title (e.g., "The priest of the seventh day") or enumerates a sequence of otherwise identically titled works (e.g., "Antiphony II"; "Untitled no. 4"), record the number as a part of a Manifestation: title proper. Otherwise follow LC/PCC practice.

LC/PCC practice: If the unit has its own description, but does not have a title or a distinctive title, apply the option to use the common title as the title of manifestation. If the unit has its own description and does have a distinctive title, record the common title as a related title of manifestation or as a title of monographic series. This applies to monographic series and multipart monographs that provide a full description of each unit, regardless of whether it is numbered or not.
PCC practice: Apply the option to monographic series and multipart monographs that provide a full description of each unit. IF: the title of a main series included in an existing authorized access point is no longer present on later issues or parts or the title of a main series not included in an existing authorized access point appears on later issues or parts, create a new description for the series work and link the two records with an earlier/later relationship. If the presence/absence of the title of manifestation of the main series continues to be inconsistent, do not create additional authority records for the series. Use the series authority record for the later series work and add information and variant access points as appropriate.
