Transformation boundary of a diachronic work
LC/PCC practice: If there is evidence beyond media type or carrier type changes listed below that there is a new Work, then create a new description.
- If the media type varies or changes within the diachronic work
- If the carrier type varies or changes within the diachronic work
- If all parts of the diachronic work are each published in two or more media or carrier types,
LC/PCC practice: For integrating works such as updating loose-leafs, create a new description only when the resource gives clear indicators that the publisher considers it a new Work. See the Metadata Guidance documentation for more detail on what criteria do or do not constitute the justification for a new description.
PCC practice for monographic series: If there is evidence beyond media type or carrier type changes listed below that there is a new Work, then create a new description.
- If the media type varies or changes within the diachronic work
- If the carrier type varies or changes within the diachronic work
- If all parts of the diachronic work are each published in two or more media or carrier types,
LC/PCC practice: When there are different language editions of a serial work, create a new description for each distinct language version of that work regardless of the title of the representative language of the original Work. See Work: Entity boundary.
