Recording an unstructured description

Option

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option when the date of production, date of publication, date of distribution, or date of manufacture on the manifestation is represented in different calendars. Record the dates in the order indicated by the sequence, layout, or typography of the dates on the source of information.

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option when the date as it appears on the manifestation is not of the Gregorian or Julian calendar. Apply the option also when the chronological designation includes dates not of the Gregorian or Julian calendar. Add the corresponding date or dates of the Gregorian or Julian calendar in square brackets. If dates have been recorded using the Hebrew script, the Gregorian or Julian calendar date may be added in both the non-Latin and romanized field, or only the romanized field.

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option. Add the equivalent numerals in the form preferred by the agency creating the data and in square brackets.

LC/PCC practice: For rare materials, apply the option in the following elements when applicable: date of production, date of publication, date of distribution, date of manufacture. Add the equivalent numerals in the form preferred by the agency creating the data and in square brackets.

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option when a date of publication as it appears on the source of information is in the form of a chronogram. Add the date in numerals in a script and calendar preferred by the agency preparing the description and in square brackets.

LC/PCC practice: Apply the option when non-Latin script numerals appear on the resource in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Perso-Arabic, Cyrillic, and Greek. Record a note showing the non-Latin script form of the numeral found on the resource, if considered important for identification.
