Routinely record the element. Record all values of the element present in the resource if feasible.

For identifiers issued by the distributor of a noted music resource, qualifiers, clarifications, or other situations not addressed here, apply the general instructions at Manifestation: identifier for manifestation.

In MARC: Record as an identifier using field 028 (first indicator 3) subfield $a. If clarification is needed, apply the general instructions at Manifestation: identifier for manifestation.

Apply the option. If a number is accompanied only by a generic designation such as "no.," "Nr.," "cat. no.," "Ed. Nr.," etc., do not consider it to be part of the number. If such a designation appears along with initials, abbreviations, or words identifying the publisher, transcribe the entire statement as it appears.
