LC-PCC policy statements for authorized access point for expression of musical work

Prerecording

Prerecording

LC practice: In most cases, when identifying an expression manifested that is not already identified by an authority record, the authorized access point only needs to identify the kind of expression for the following situations:

  • Arrangements (see Expression: designation of version)
  • Sketches (see Expression: designation of version)
  • Vocal scores (see Expression: designation of version)
  • Chorus scores (see Expression: designation of version)
  • Translations (see Expression: language of expression)

Other elements in the bibliographic record are sufficient for identifying the specific expression.

If there is an authority record with an authorized access point for musical expression that includes values that LC would not have added, use the form as found in the authority record, if applicable.
