LC/PCC practice: Provide a Manifestation: note on numbering of sequence for the first issue or part of the sequence.
LC/PCC practice: Transcribe captions as found. If numbering includes both issue number and date, put parentheses around the date.
LC/PCC practice: If the chronological designation includes dates not of the Gregorian or Julian calendar, supply the corresponding dates of the Gregorian or Julian calendar. Supply the value in square brackets. If dates have been recorded using the Hebrew script, the Gregorian or Julian calendar date may be added in both the non-Latin and romanized field, or only the romanized field.
LC/PCC practice: If the first issue or part of a sequence has no chronological designation and subsequent issues or parts define a chronological designation pattern for the sequence, supply a chronological designation for first issue or part based on the pattern. Supply the value in square brackets.
LC/PCC practice: If the identification of the manifestation is based on an issue or part other than the first of a sequence and a chronological designation for first issue or part of sequence can be readily ascertained, supply a chronological designation for first issue or part of sequence.
For instructions on recording this element when a chronological designation of first issue or part of sequence appears on the source of information in more than one language or script, see Manifestation: numbering within sequence. Options re: parallel language or script.
LC/PCC practice: For diachronic works, if numbering is not present or known, give the beginning Manifestation: date of publication or Manifestation: copyright date.
LC/PCC practice: For rare materials, provide a Manifestation: note on numbering of sequence for the first issue or part of the sequence only if the first issue is not available (see DCRM(S) 3A1, 3B).
PCC practice: When creating a new description of a series, take evidence for numbering of sequence from the earliest available part or from an LC-PCC bibliographic description of the earliest available part that conforms to RDA.
