LC/PCC practice: If an authorized access point for family is needed to record Work: subject family and the cataloging agency uses Library of Congress Subject Headings as a subject vocabulary encoding scheme, follow the instructions in Subject Headings Manual (SHM) instruction sheet H 1631, Genealogy and Family Names, or H 1574, Dynasties, Royal Houses, Etc. If an authorized access point for family is need to record an element other than Work: subject family, follow RDA instructions and LC/PCC Policy Statements.
