LC/PCC Core for authority records in the LC/NAF.

LC/PCC practice: If an authorized access point for family is needed to record Work: subject family and the cataloging agency uses Library of Congress Subject Headings as a subject vocabulary encoding scheme, follow the instructions in Subject Headings Manual (SHM) instruction sheet H 1631, Genealogy and Family Names, or H 1574, Dynasties, Royal Houses, Etc. If an authorized access point for family is need to record an element other than Work: subject family, follow RDA instructions and LC/PCC Policy Statements.

LC/PCC practice: If an authorized access point for family is needed to record an element other than Work: subject family and an authorized form has been established in the LC/NACO Name Authority File, apply the option by recording that authorized form.

LC/PCC practice: If an authorized access point for family is needed to record an element other than Work: subject family and no authorized form has been established in the LC/NACO Authority file, apply the option by (1) establishing a value of Family: access point for family as the authorized form in the LC/NACO Name Authority file, and/or (2) Recording a value of Family: access point for family on a bibliographic record.
